Interview with Cory Doctorow – The S&L Podcast #028
As a wrap-up of "Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom" we finally snag an interview with the author of the Sword and Laser book club selection. Cory Doctorow is always a fun person to chat with, and this episode is no exception. We do query him on some of the thoughts behind Down and Out, but also about writing and the publishing industry in general. We also let him pick our next book!

Thanks Alden! Kind of wish I had known that before I bought the hardcover, though I don't mind paying either :)

I'm really glad you guys did this interview! I approached it with a bit of trepidation, as I've heard Cory on other podcasts in the past and he's come off (to me) as somewhat aloof. Maybe it was the other hosts, or maybe he had an off day, this was really fun to listen to, and to get his perspective on how he wrote it and why Disney World.
Not sure I'll be joining in on the next book, it really doesn't look like it's up my alley and I've got some other things going on, but we'll see how things are going when the next show comes out...
Please disable your Skype sounds! Doing that once was more understandable than letting it happen twice! Argh!
just listening to this podcast was great hearing from Cory was an experience, i have already read some of his free content online since listening and have suggested books to friends already, free content is so powerful, if you believe in the quality of your work it should always be free if it doesnt cost anything (or next to nothing) to make that available to the world then do it. it spreads your message and creates a fan base that people can try a "free sample" of your entire works and have the option to buy it if they like it (which i feel obligated to do if it is something i have enjoyed and/or will recommend it to people). ever since "pirating" has existed on the internet i think my media/book/comic collection has grown exponentially since i can save my money for the good stuff and not guy the garbage i dont want to own.
thanks for the great podcast, keep up the good work
I love the show and listen to it whenever there is a new one... But recently I rebuilt my computer and I lost the link to the podcast feed. I can't find it anywhere... Please point me to it.
